Harmon Quarter Horses is located in Chester, Montana at the heart of the Big Sky’s Hi-Line. Our home place is just south of town and we summer our cattle in the Sweet Grass Hills north of town.
We are a working cow-calf ranch and we use our horses for all aspects of ranch work. Our goal is to produce good working ranch horses that have the brains, speed and athleticism to also be competitive in the arena.
Our original broodmares carried the bloodlines of Vegas Hardway, Doc Bar, King, Poco Bueno and Blondys Dude. We added the bloodlines of Two Eyed Jack and Jag On through our first stallion, Jack N Jag, which Bill purchased in 1980. The addition of Zippo Memorial, an own son of Zippo Pat Bars, to our breeding program in 1995 brought in the Three Bars and Leo influence and also added another shot of Poco Bueno. By keeping daughters of Zippo Memorial, we created a solid pedigree to complement the bloodlines of Sun Frost, The Continental and Driftwood that Dun Drift carries. With the purchase of several mares, we added crosses to Royal Three Charge and Snip O Colonel.
Our most recent addition, Signature Perks, is an own son of Dash For Perks. He compliments our Dun Drift daughters with a pedigree filled with speed. We could not be happier with the Perks offspring. They are proving to be highly trainable and full of ability.
We have been raising quarter horses for almost 40 years. We realize what it takes to raise a horse with trainability and the intelligence to make a working partner; one that has the conformation and soundness to handle all day ranch work, miles and rough country.
We are members of the AQHA, the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge Program, and the Montana Breeders Group. We have horses for sale at the ranch, on the web, and at the Montana Breeders Group Sale. We are proud of the horses we raise! We love to show them off and share them with fellow horse enthusiasts so come for a visit. The coffee pot is always handy!
